The Big Walk

Sunday 19 September 2021
from 12.30pm

Team Denton South are supporting Forever Green’s Defibrillator Fundraiser by organising “The Big Walk” – a 10 or 5 mile fundraising challenge encompassing Werneth Low (for the Advanced Walkers) and Reddish Vale Country Park (for both the Advanced and Intermediate Walkers).

The fundraising challenge is in aid of Forever Green’s Defibrillator Fundraiser. Denton South has two 24 hour accessible community defibrillators defibrillators. They are in constant use, saving the lives of our friends, family members and neighbours. This life saving machinery requires regular maintenance and investment. Join our fundraising challenge to keep the defibrillators working and to invest in more life saving machinery and training.

The Big Walk is a walk of two halves: Advanced Walkers (the 10-milers) will leave Haughton Green Village Green, heading in to The Tame Valley, through Gee Cross and up to Werneth Low. The route will then descend in to Hyde Town Centre and up to Mill Lane, where Intermediate Walkers (the 5-milers) will join the walk. From there, the route will head in to Denton Town Centre via Moorfield Avenue and St Lawrence Road. Walkers will then head down Town Lane, in to Reddish Vale Country Park before emerging on Stockport Road near Yew Tree Road before heading back to Haughton Green Village.

Registration costs just £5 per person – everyone who registers will receive refreshments, regular fundraising and training tips and a medal upon completion. All profits will be reinvested in to the Defibrillator Fundraiser.

We are asking everyone that participates to help raise funds through our Just Giving page:

We hope to see as many of you as possible on what promises to be a fun but challenging community event.
